New Year, New House
Today is a good day. Just received a phone call from our new construction liaison who I will refer to as "Miss N" to advise that earthworks are starting on our site this coming Monday, 13th January 2014.
Followed by a site scrape the site fencing will go up on Tuesday then the site will be marked out ready for the slab.
The timing couldn't be better as the last couple of weeks had me feeling really disheartened after our site had been targeted for illegal rubbish dumping. A huge pile of waste, still sitting there now which includes a mouldy mattress, car bumper, garden waste, buckets, boots, tent, wood, concrete...the list goes on.
At this stage it is only us and our next door neighbours that have nothing to show while the rest of the street is mid construction. It makes us a fabulous target for thoughtless people to carry out these acts. We haven't removed it yet because we didn't want it to re-occur and have to clean it up again.
I made a report to the local Council though and was informed that as we are not paying full rates, just partial rates based on the land...we are not eligible for a hard rubbish collection. Nevertheless we submitted an illegal rubbish dumping report formally for community statistics and Local Laws will investigate the pile of rubbish tomorrow morning for possible incriminating evidence. I would love to be the person to organise "return to sender".
We will do the clean up on the weekend.
